Your Information

Burgate Litigation Solicitors collects personal information when you instruct us to act for you. We will use this information to comply with the money laundering regulations, to enable us to carry out our contract of retainer to act on your behalf and to communicate with you about the matter we are handling for you.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect only relevant information about you when you instruct us to act or when we need information about you in the course of the matter we are dealing with.

How will we use the information about you?

We collect information about you to enable us to comply with the law and perform our contract with you. We do not share your information with other entities without first seeking your express permission.

How will we store the information about you and how long do we keep it for?

Information we collect about you may be held both on paper documents, and in electronic format such as spreadsheets and word processing documents. The information will be held by the Principal Solicitor and reasonable precautions will be taken to protect the information from unauthorised access or theft. We retain your information for 6 years after your matter has concluded.

Marketing

We do not engage in Marketing activities and will not use your details to send third party marketing material.

Access to your information and correction of your personal details

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of that information or if you wish to make corrections, please email us. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

If you think we are dealing with your data improperly you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We keep our privacy policy under regular review and we will publish any changes to all our clients via email.
